Dealing with Zucchini Discoloration: St. Paul Container Gardening Update
A few days ago, I shared how I gave the potted tomato plants their first nutrient boost of the season. They've been in their containers for about a month now, and it was definitely time to keep that growth momentum going.
This morning, while making the rounds in the garden, I noticed some yellowing and discoloration on the zucchini leaves. Container plants exhaust their soil nutrients quickly, so it was obvious they also needed a little pick me up.
My Quick Fix: I used Miracle-Gro All-Purpose Water Soluble Plant Food. Using the small scoop that came with the fertilizer, I put a little bit right around the base of the plant before watering.
Others might have they're own preferred methods and techniques, but I've found this direct application of the fertilizer consistently works well for my setup.
After a good watering, we’ll see how quickly these zucchini plants bounce back to a healthy green.
More to come!
