How to Stagger Leafy Greens in Zone 4b

This morning, I took a few minutes in the garden to manage the leafy greens. About half the row of cabbage was starting to bolt and flower, so I went ahead and pulled it up along with a bit of the arugula.

One key to having a successful harvest all summer long is to stagger these leafy greens. So I replanted those spots immediately.

If you time the planting right, you can ensure a continuous supply of fresh, crisp greens all summer long.

I'm planning to continue with this planting method with both the kale and lettuce rows over the next week or two. It’s my first time growing kale, so I’ll be testing the waters by resetting just one of the two rows first to see how it performs.
